An Afternoon at the Capitol Lagoon

One afternoon last weekend, we decided to go to the Capitol Lagoon in Bacolod City. It is just near our house, about three blocks, but it is not often that we can come here because we are also busy.

Anyway, it was a great afternoon–the weather was cool, the sky was clear, and it was not humid. We took our daughter so that she can play, run around, catch bubbles, feed the fish, and eat street food.

There were so many people there. Some were having their afternoon walks. Some were sitting on the benches and just chatting. Some couples were having dates while families were having picnics. And a lot of people were also taking photos.

The Capitol Lagoon is a great place to hangout. It is free, relatively clean, and safe because there are many guards patrolling the area. It is also fenced and big bicycles are not allowed. There is a playground, an area for rollerblading, and an open space for people to have gatherings, to exercise, or to practice dancing. They have also installed a giant fountain in the middle of the lagoon and it is very nice to look at night with all its different-colored lights.

The Lagoon is also very historical because it was set up during the American regime here in the Philippines. The carabao monuments on either side of the lagoon were all designed by the same architect that did the provincial capitol building.

The park is a must-stop for people visiting Bacolod City. It would also be a great place to shoot the capitol. It is great to come and visit in the afternoon and during evenings.

blowing bubbles

The Capitol Lagoon is also a good place to share some happiness. We made bubbles and people around us, especially the kids, enjoyed catching them. It would also be extra special if you have some food for the kids who kinda just stay there.
