Bacolaodiat Festival 2012 Schedule of Activities

This is going to be a big Bacolaodiat Festival 2012 celebration in Bacolod City because this year, the Chinese community is celebrating the Year of the Dragon. Below is the complete schedule for the 3-day affair–from January 20-23, 2012. The theme for this year is: A Majestic Spirit in a Challenging Year.

Bacolaodiat Festival 2012 Schedule

The Lacson Streets, the North Capitol Road and the New Government Center here in Bacolod City will be the areas of celebration. Life-size zodiac animals and Chinese lanterns will be all over the event sites. This is going to be the 7th year that the city will celebrate the occasion. And it gets better and better.

Bacolaodiat 2012 Highlights:
1. The festival will open with a grand parade on January 20 that will start at the SM City Bacolod.
2. Food stalls will be set up along the North Capitol Road and it will be called Chopsticks Alley. It will be open for three days, from 5:30pm, and will offer Chinese dishes.
3. On January 21, kids can have their photos taken with their favorite mascots along Lacson Street, starting at 4:00p.m.
4. In the evening, GMA Kapuso stars will have a concert. There will also be a fireworks display in the evening.
5. On January 22, there will a Lantern Dance Contest that will be participated in by different barangays and groups. They will showcase costumes patterned after authentic Chinese Minority traditional garb and colorful lanterns. The competition will start at 5pm. There will again be a fireworks display in the evening and performances by live bands.
6. On New Year’s Day, January 23, there will be two big events
a. At SM, there will be a Bacolaodiat Champions’ Showdown where the winners of the Lantern Dance Contest will be announced and awarded at the Event Center at 3:00 PM.
b. ABS-CBN will have a show with Kapamilya Stars at 5:30 PM at the New Government Center. It will be followed by a fireworks display at 8:30PM and a live band performance.
