The Maldives international airport is located at Male’–the island capital. But when you get there, you will have to take either a boat or a seaplane in order to go to your destination. Please note that there is almost a 100 islands that are open for tourists, so there is actually a lot of places to visit.
Going Around Male’
You can easily explore Male’ on a motorbike. Taxis are available and you only pay a standard fare of Rufiyaa 20 for each trip, no matter the distance. Or you can walk because it is said that Male’ is small place that you can reach your destination in 10 minutes.
Tourist transfers
If you are going to go on a resort, hotel, or a safari cruise, you will usually be picked up by a hotel staff and you will use the transfer services that you prefer. Your choices would be a speed boat, seaplane, or the local boat called a dhoni.
You may also want to go on an island hopping adventure. Ask your travel agent or even your hotel receptionist so that they can arrange this.
