Life is a Roller Coaster Ride at Disneyland and Sea World

The first time I encountered a roller coaster was the Space Shuttle of Enchanted Kingdom in Laguna, Philippines. Since I already had migraine then because of the heat at the Splash Island, I was really bound to throw up that day so I totally shunned all rides in exchange for just sightseeing around the park.

The second roller coaster encounter that I had was the Mickey Mouse at California Adventure at Anaheim, California, USA, which is just across Disneyland. It was a wonderful sight, especially at night when all the led lights were on.

Anyway, I still did not want to get on it because I was so scared. I was already an adult then at 28 years told and a roller coaster virgin. But eventually, I gave in to peer pressure. And the American kids around me were saying, “Hey, it’s fun. This is our fourth ride already.” And when they said that, they meant it was their fourth time for that day.

And so I went, held my breath then almost lost it, until a friend of mine noticed how I was catching my breath so amidst the roar of the ride, she shouted at me, “SHOUUTTT!” So I shouted. I let out all the air in my lungs and I shouted really loud. Would you believe it? The only thing that would make a roller coaster ride enjoyable is a shout? LOL And shout I did so I enjoyed it much. haha

I thought to myself that at least once in my life I had been on roller coaster rideand that is a story that I would live to tell my kids. However, the story did not end there.

When I went to Florida, USA, my elderly aunt took me to the Disney Hollywood Studios–a park in Disneyworld. They had an indoor ride called the Rock and Roller Coaster. Needless to say, I became addicted that I went on it by myself and shouted to my heart’s content. LOL Now I am actually looking for the thrill of the ride!

I stayed in Florida for close to a month and everyday, my aunt and I would go out–to the grocery, to the mall, to the factory outlets, to the seafood market, and of course to all the area of Disneyworld. And each time, we had to pass by Sea World Orlando because it was near their house. But my aunt was not too interested to take me because she did not have season passes there. I thought, too bad, but still wished anyway because every time we passed by the place, I would often catch a glimpse of their giant roller coaster named, Kraken.

But before I went back to LA, my cousin and her then boyfriend (who is now her husband) treated me to a day at Sea World! And of course, we just had to get on Kraken! The ride was more than 3 minutes and what made it more challenging was the twisty corkscrews in the path! Yep, we did not just loop around and around but we also twisted around in several areas.

I was shouting so hard that when the ride stopped, I felt that there were already tears falling down my eyes. I hurriedly wipe them away so that my cousin would not see them and then just laughed.

Riding a roller coaster can be scary for first-timer. And for someone like me who has motion sickness, it was doubly scary because I might throw up. But I didn’t and I actually enjoyed the experience.
