Northland Resort and Hotel in Manapla is a Great Summer Destination

Northland Resort and Hotel

We have heard of the new resort in Manapla, north of Negros Occidental, Philippines but it was not only until two weeks ago that we braved the distance (which was not actually very far but it was the longest drive that my husband, daughter, and I have gone) from Bacolod City.

The resort is called the Northland Resort and Hotel and it is also where the Gustilo Town Center, named after its owner Dr. Ramon Gustilo, may be found. It is a huge development that encompasses many hectares because there is even a subdivision beside the resort called Villa Verde.

It turned out that the drive from Bacolod took only about 45 minutes, traveling north and plying only Lacson Street. Since we did not know exactly where we were going, we did not see the road sign on the highway. But Northland is just located on the boundary of Victorias City and Manapla, which is why it is not very far.

Northland Resort and Hotel Amenities
The area in front is the Gustilo Town Center–a commercial establishment that serves several purposes. It has function rooms that can be rented for meetings, seminars, and grand banquets that could seat up to 600 people. There are also commercial spaces for rent as well as an entertainment area that boasts of a bowling alley, a billiard room, a fitness gym, tennis court, and a boxing area.

In the same building is the hotel with the following room rates:
Standard Room – PhP 1,650.00 – Single or double occupancy
De Luxe Room – PhP 1,850.00 (with ref) – Single or double occupancy
Family Room – PhP 2,500.00 (with ref) – Four adults and two children, facing the pool
Guest Room – PhP 8,000 (with ref and kitchenette) – up to 10 pax

All the rooms have free wireless Internet access (WiFi) plus hotel guests have a complimentary use of the gym, a breakfast for 2, and use of the resort amenities. They are open for big events like retreats or camps, as they also have in-house catering.

But if you are only there for a day trip, entrance fee to the resort is P60 for the adults and P30 for the children. That includes swimming. You can bring food inside the resort but drinks are now allowed, as they are selling a variety of drinks at their snack bar.

Northland resort swimming pool

Swimming is enjoyable for both children and adults because there are many shallow areas and a slide. There is a also a big and deep pool for those who want some serious swimming.

I am just happy that least the sleepy town of Manapla can now be known as a destination rather than just for its famous Manapla puto. Thanks to the Northland Resort Hotel.

cabana for rent

For daytime guests, you can rent this cabana for P600.

The cabana above is available for rent. For the whole cabana, it only costs P600 for a whole-day rental. But if you are just a small group, you can rent half of it at P300. On sunny days, you can just rent a table and chairs set for P150. Since we did not really have a meal there, we just rented chairs for P10 each, as we just went there for swimming. I think it is great that there are choices like these.

The services at northland resort was the most incredibly offending and lousiest among all the hotels, resorts we visited abroad and local!! We visited the place just this morning before going to the airport in Bacolod since its time for us to go home to Manila. We wanted to ask the room rates, to see their amenities as well as to have a showroom. Unfortunately, one of the staff told us to use the flight of stairs to reach the front desk/reception even when there was an available elevator working. Imagine that kind of hospitality, accommodation to prospect/future guests? Unbelievable, right? We left the place and swore not to go back again to this uncivilized resort. We just hope that this treatment given to us was the same if we were foreigners parading around and scouting for a place to stay…I don’t think so…..The management better improve and train their employees working attitude and manners.

  2. Ramon Gustilo Aguirre MD , President & COO says:

    Dr Dr. Rebecca B. Dosayla:

It was unfortunate that you had a negative experience when you dropped by our establishment. But in fairness to our staff, accommodations and various amenities, your comments as being “offensive, lousiest among the hotels and resorts and being uncivilized” is uncalled for. You are basing your comments primarily because you took one flight of stairs to our reception area because the elevator was unavailable? Unfortunately on the day you visited us our elevator was being serviced by its supplier.

As the President and General Manager of the Northland Resort Hotel we have maintained a high level of customer service and customer satisfaction from our guest, corporations and the media who have experienced our accommodations and various amenities.
